Every Student Makes an Impact

Department of Communication

Bellarmine’s Department of Communication combines a hands-on approach to media and communication with a liberal arts foundation. The department is one of the largest majors in the Bellarmine College of Arts and Sciences, with decades of graduates active in a variety of media and communication sectors. Classes give students the opportunity to engage in a range of project-based and research-based scholarship.

The department serves as hub for Bellarmine’s media-making culture, through Knights Media Network, Bellarmine University Radio, and Bellarmine Sports Media. Much of this work takes place in the department’s Fish Bowl production suite, where students collaborate on various projects, such as our annual TedX Bellarmine event. Students also participate in the Bellarmine Communication Association, the Bellarmine Film Association, Lambda Pi Eta honors society, and Bellarmine’s Pre-Law Society during their course of study.

Our internship program provides third-and-fourth-year students unique opportunities to work with leading media and communication companies and institutions. Communication students work on NEXU, our in-house student-run media communication agency, which works with local non-profit organizations on media strategies and goals. Ongoing programs from the Institute for Media, Culture and Ethics provide undergraduate and graduate students chances to learn from media and communication practitioners and theorists from a diverse range of backgrounds and specialties.

Every student has an impact. Come shape your future as well as ours in Bellarmine’s Department of Communication.
