Starting college is exciting, but taking such a big step can feel overwhelming. That's why KnightU: Orientation was designed to make that transition fun, welcoming, and much easier.
KnightU is Bellarmine University’s take on first-year orientation, created to help incoming students feel confident, prepared, and connected before their first semester begins. Here, students get a hands-on introduction to life on campus with their peers. Lillie Bennet, Bellarmine’s Enrollment Event Coordinator, puts it best: it’s what makes being a “Knight” feel real.
The event itself is a full-day experience brimming with opportunities to explore what Bellarmine has to offer. It starts off with a welcoming orientation session to get the ball rolling. After that, students will break into small groups led by KnightU Leaders, where they’ll take campus tours and rotate through sessions focused on academics, student life, and campus resources. Students can also attend breakout sessions based on their personal interests. These could include study abroad, learning communities, or potential majors.
While the students are getting a feel for the Bellarmine experience, their families will follow their own schedules, with sessions focused on topics such as financial aid, student success, and how to be supportive during this transition. KnightU will wrap up with the New Knight Social and Resource Fair, where students and families can relax and intermingle. There will be snacks, games, and the opportunity to casually connect with different campus offices.
Beyond simply introducing Bellarmine’s campus, KnightU is about helping students feel ready for their freshman year. This is where it starts to feel official – they'll meet with their academic advisor, receive their class schedule, and pick up their student ID. It’s also where students get to know their peers and start building friendships that can last throughout their college experience.
Knight U will take place on May 28, June 10, June 16, June 26, July 13, and with a final virtual option on July 21. These sessions help incoming students build connections, explore campus resources, and prepare for a successful start at Bellarmine University.
Students who have submitted their deposit can register for Knight U Orientation through their Next Steps portal.
