Fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide have earned AACSB accreditation

Bellarmine University’s W. Fielding Rubel School of Business has earned reaccreditation from AACSB International, reaffirming its place among the world’s leading business schools and demonstrating its ongoing commitment to excellence in business education.

AACSB accreditation is achieved by fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide and is widely recognized as the global standard for quality in business education. The reaccreditation, awarded on a five-year cycle, reflects the Rubel School’s continued strength in teaching, research, curriculum, and student success.

Bellarmine remains the only private university in Kentucky with AACSB accreditation, and Rubel School graduates earn 42% more than the median graduate of business programs from all Kentucky colleges, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

“This reaccreditation reaffirms our commitment to delivering a high-quality business education that prepares students to lead in a rapidly changing world,” said Dr. Diane Bruce, dean of the W. Fielding Rubel School of Business. “It is a reflection of the dedication of our faculty and staff, whose work ensures our programs remain rigorous and responsive to the needs of students and employers. We are proud to offer an experience that not only meets the highest standards in business education, but also creates meaningful opportunities for our students and the communities we serve.”

AACSB accreditation recognizes institutions that demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. At Bellarmine, this includes a focus on maintaining academically rigorous programs while integrating emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, and emphasizing the development of both technical and professional skills.

The Rubel School’s approach is grounded in real-world engagement and strong connections with employers, alumni, and community partners. These relationships enhance student learning through internships, applied projects, and experiential opportunities that prepare graduates for immediate impact in their careers.

This commitment is reflected in student outcomes. Within six months of graduation, 100% of Rubel School of Business graduates are employed or pursuing an advanced degree, and 88% complete internships as part of their academic experience.

The school’s strategic direction also emphasizes community impact, with a focus on supporting economic development in Louisville and the surrounding region. Through community-engaged learning, faculty scholarship, and student involvement, the Rubel School contributes to the growth of small businesses and nonprofit organizations, particularly in underserved communities.

As Bellarmine celebrates its 75th anniversary, the reaccreditation underscores the university’s continued focus on academic excellence, student success, and workforce impact – building on its legacy while preparing graduates to lead in an increasingly dynamic global economy.
