On Saturday, February 22, Bellarmine University presents a free public panel discussion titled “The U.S. Constitution: Foundations and Controversies.”

The event takes place in the George G. Brown Center's Frazier Hall at 10:30 a.m. [campus map]

Dr. Aaron D. Hoffman, associate professor of political science at Bellarmine University, will moderate the discussion. The panelists for the event include Bellarmine’s Dr. Evanthia Speliotis, associate professor of philosophy, and Dr. Lee Remington Williams, assistant professor of political science. The panel also includes Attorney Jane Lollis and University of Louisville professor of law Cedric Merlin Powell. Attorney John K. Bush will serve as the discussant, providing a critical review and response to the presentations made by the panelists.

The panel discussion is sponsored by The Alexander Hamilton Historical Society of Kentucky, along with the following Bellarmine organizations: Pi Sigma Alpha, The Political Science Club and The Pre-Law Society.

Lynn Olympia, president of The Alexander Hamilton Historical Society of Kentucky, said the event should “promote a better understanding of the Founding Fathers' political philosophy, the genesis of the Constitution, and the resulting institutions required for effective government.” Following the discussion, the audience will be invited to ask questions.
