Bellarmine University's
nursing program is one of the top private nursing schools in the nation, according to Nursing Schools
Almanac, a website that offers nursing program
rankings and resources. Bellarmine was recognized as the 70th best nationwide nursing
program among
private nursing schools in the rankings, which were released last month. Bellarmine
was the only Kentucky college or university on the private school list. The Nursing
Schools Almanac's rankings are
determined using a formula that combines schools' academic prestige, student success on nursing licensure examinations,
and program breadth and depth. Bellarmine was recognized based on an assessment of
over 3,000 nursing schools nationwide. "Bellarmine’s undergraduate nursing program
is well recognized by employers both locally and regionally," said Dr. Nancy York,
dean of the
Donna and Allan Lansing School of Nursing and Clinical Sciences.
"We have an outstanding reputation for graduating prepared, highly motivated and hardworking
nurses.” Over the last five years, Bellarmine graduates have averaged a 95 percent
first time pass rate on their National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the
nationwide exam for licensing nurses in the United States and Canada. “Our graduates
consistently score above the state and national averages on the national licensure
exam," said York.
Bellarmine's nursing program prepares nursing professionals for leadership roles,
global opportunities and community engagement. Bellarmine offers bachelor’s, master’s
and doctoral degrees in nursing. Bellarmine's nursing programs are accredited
by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
