Music department releases 'My Old Kentucky Home' to celebrate Kentucky Derby week
April 30, 2019

In celebration of Kentucky Derby week, Bellarmine University’s music department has released a new arrangement of “My Old Kentucky Home,” performed
by the Bellarmine Schola. The music video, recorded at Sun Valley Farm in Versailles, Kentucky, features an arrangement by Dr. S. Timothy Glasscock, chair
of the music department. "Sun Valley Farm is one of the most beautiful locations you
could ask for to film a Derby video," Glasscock said. "The Butzers were so kind to
bring us in and let us interact with their beautiful thoroughbreds and film in the
yard of the beautiful Samuel
Pepper homestead. We had a great time, and it was the perfect place to premiere my
new arrangement of 'My Old Kentucky Home!'" Sun Valley Farm is owned by Barry and
Jan Butzer. This is the third year that the music department has released a recording
of the Commonwealth of Kentucky's official song during Derby week. See the previous
