fall 2013 45 CLASS NOTES 2000s Ogbe Dennis Ogbe ’06/’07 MBA was the only Kentucky athlete to compete for Team USA at the 2013 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Lyon, France, on July 19-28, 2013. Chris Carmicle ’00 MBA, president of Brown Jordan International, received the Partners in Transformation CEO Award at the Sears Holdings 2013 Vendor Summit, the firm’s second Partners in Transformation Award and its first such CEO award. Chris and Katie (Maras) Haulter ’03/’08 welcomed daughter Amelia Rose on July 15, 2013. Amelia, who joined sisters, Leigha, Claire and Meghan, was born on the Feast Day of St. Bonaventure, the namesake of one of Bellarmine’s former residence halls. Kristen Collett-Schmitt ’03 is entering her sixth year as an assistant teaching professor of finance at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. She teaches economics to students in the undergraduate, Executive MBA and master of nonprofit administration (MNA) programs, and was recently awarded the 2013 Outstanding Teacher Award by the MNA program. Along with her family and friends, Kristen is also devoted to honoring her twin daughters, one of whom passed away in 2010, through fundraising for the March of Dimes National Office and by developing a nonprofit organization that provides necessities for hospitalized premature infants. Kyle ’05 and Ashley (Cato) Kerkemeyer ’06, who live in the St. Louis area, welcomed their first child, Lillie Josephine Kerkemeyer, on March 22, 2013. Haulter Brill Dwelly Kerkemeyer McGee Craft Erin ’08 DPT and Kevin Craft ’12 MBA are happy to announce the arrival of their first child, daughter Adelynn Sawyer Craft, who was born Feb. 17, 2013. Mark Mucci ’08, an independent insurance agent with Garrett-Stotz, has been elected chairman of YPAL Cares, the charitable foundation of the Young Professionals Association of Louisville. Underwood Kara (Morrell) Underwood ’08 and David Underwood welcomed Frank Joseph Underwood on Jan. 11, 2013. Brittany McGarry ’09 graduated from Appalachian State University in May with a master’s in college student development. She is starting her professional journey at Johnson and Wales University in Denver, Colo., as the student activities coordinator, a position in which she advises student organizations, manages service initiatives and promotes leadership development. Suzanne Elise McGee ’09 is excited to announce her graduation from the University of Louisville’s School of Medicine in May with a doctorate in medicine. She began her residency in July. She truly believes that Bellarmine University well-prepared her for the rigors of medical school, and she very much misses many of her Bellarmine professors and friends! Linda Brill ’04/’05 DPT and her husband, Evan, announce the April 24, 2013, birth of their daughter, Ryann Elizabeth. In the News The 2013 edition of Business First’s annual “Forty Under 40” publication included five young business professionals with Bellarmine ties: Brittany Bentley Caskey ’07 MBA , United Parcel Service; Chris Colson ’99, Texas Roadhouse Inc.; Jean Lee ’10 MBA , PNC Bank; Chad W. Mc- Cauley ’97, Merrill Lynch & Co.; and Alli Truttmann ’06, Wicked Sheets LLC, adjunct professor at Bellarmine and independent autism intervention specialist. Laura Needham, dean of Bellarmine’s School of Communication, was also named. The 40 honorees were chosen from more than 480 nominees. The Bellarmine Alumni Association was well-represented in the recent class of Leadership Louisville’s Ignite Program. The teams that finished in the top two in the group competition included Kacy Durbin Noltemeyer ’06, Aaron Montgomery ’99, Tracy Blankenship Markert ’96 and Matthew Brotzge ’10 MBA . Two Bellarmine alumnae were honored on Oct. 3 with Tower Awards from Presentation Academy: Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Stacy Kinberger Greive ’88 in Government & Law category, and Patricia Tse Coxon ’92, president of SunWind Power Systems, in the Science & Healthcare category.
