Apply to the Honors Program
Admission to the Honors Program
The Bellarmine Honors Program is open to qualified, motivated students of all majors. Admission is competitive and requires a separate application, which is reviewed by the Honors Program Director and Honors Council.
Applications are evaluated holistically, with attention to:
-
Academic performance
-
Intellectual curiosity
-
Potential for growth
Students may apply at different points in their academic journey. See the pathways below for details.
First Year Students
Incoming first-year students who demonstrate strong academic performance, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to engage in discussion-based, interdisciplinary learning are encouraged to apply.
Applications submitted by December 1 will be considered for the Bellarmine Scholars Award and Bellarmine Fellows Award. Applications received after December 1 will not be eligible for scholarship consideration.
Transfer Students
Transfer students who have demonstrated strong academic performance at their previous institution and are interested in an enriched academic experience.
Students seeking fall entry into the Honors Program should submit their application by August 1 for full consideration. Students interested in spring entry must submit their application by December 1 for full consideration.
Current Students
Current Bellarmine students who have established a strong academic record and are interested in joining a more rigorous, discussion-based academic community.
Eligibility is limited to students in their first or sophomore year at the time of application. Students who are admitted will begin participating in the Honors Program in the academic term immediately following their acceptance.

There is no single “type” of Honors student—successful applicants come from a wide range of academic interests and backgrounds.
After You Apply
Applications are reviewed by the Honors Program Director and Council. Selected students will be notified of their admission and provided with next steps for joining the program.
Some applicants—particularly first-year students—may also be considered for additional opportunities such as scholarship competitions.
