Theatre Productions & Opportunities
At Bellarmine, theatre is something you actively participate in. Whether you’re onstage, backstage, or leading the creative process, students have meaningful opportunities to contribute to the making of live performance.
Mainstage Productions
The Theatre Program produces a season of fully staged productions each year, bringing
together students, faculty, and guest artists.
Students can participate in:
- Acting roles
- Technical and production crews
- Design teams (scenic, lighting, sound, costumes)
- Stage management and dramaturgy
Productions are guided by experienced theatre professionals, offering students insight into both the artistic and professional aspects of theatre-making.
Auditions
Auditions are open to all Bellarmine students, regardless of major or experience level.
Students interested in performing are encouraged to audition for mainstage productions and student-led work. Audition information, including dates and requirements, is announced each semester and typically occur during the first week of the term.

Backstage & Production Work
Theatre depends on more than performers.
Students can get involved in:

- Lighting and sound operation
- Costume and props work
- Running crew during performances
These experiences build practical skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and technical production, and are a central part of the Theatre minor.
Student-Created Work
Students have opportunities to develop and present their own creative work.
Through coursework and student organizations, students can:
- Devise original performances
- Direct short pieces or full productions
- Experiment with new forms and storytelling approaches
Student-driven work is an important part of the creative life of the program.

Students are encouraged to take on leadership roles and contribute to the broader theatre community through Alpha Psi Omega.
