Our Title IX Commitment

Bellarmine values the intrinsic dignity of each person and seeks to promote an educational environment that is free from sexual discrimination, sexual misconduct (including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and harassment), and retaliation. When such instances occur, they impact not only on the individual but also on the greater community.

Bellarmine’s Title IX commitment emphasizes five key areas: 

  1. Policy: Our foundation is in the policy and procedures we follow. 
  2. Prevention and Education: Our goal is to prevent sexual harassment (including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking), sexual exploitation, discrimination and retaliation before they happen. 
  3. Supportive Measures: We will provide support and appropriate supportive measures to individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct who may or may not be involved in a Title IX process.
  4. Investigation and Resolution: We are committed to due process, campus safety and transparency related to how we investigate and resolve reports. 
  5. Patterns and Trends: Our responsibility is to utilize the best available research, evidence-based practice, and our own campus trends in our prevention and response efforts.

Sexual Discrimination and Misconduct Policy

Reporting 

We encourage any Bellarmine community member who has experienced potential sexual discrimination, sexual harassment (including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking), sexual exploitation and retaliation to consider reporting the incident(s) to a member of the Title IX Team.

Mandatory Reporting

All employees of the University (except for the Confidential entities outlined below) are considered Mandatory Reporters. Disclosure of any instance of potential sexual discrimination and misconduct reported to a full-time Bellarmine faculty member, staff member (including Residence Life student staff) must be immediately reported to the Chief Title IX Officer.

Campus community members seeking support but not wishing to have that report shared with the Title IX Office can access free confidential support through the following:

Emergency Information

If you are in an emergency while on campus during standard hours of operation (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) please contact the Office of Public Safety at 502.272.7777. 

If you should experience an emergency off campus or after normal office hours, please call 911 or the Center for Women and Families Crisis Line at 844.237.2331.  The crisis advocates at the Center for Women and Families can assist you in finding safety, seeking medical attention, filing a policy report, and finding access to additional support services.
