5 Things You Should Know About Your College Application

Admissions

1. Submitting your application is not a commitment.

Go ahead and apply to the schools that interest you to see what opportunities they can offer you for scholarships and financial aid. You might not have realized this, but some schools host special “admitted student days” where you can get a more in-depth look at the college experience, but these are only open to students who have been admitted. Once you are admitted, you can start connecting with your future classmates right away!

Also, Bellarmine's Early Action application is not binding. It just means you get an admission decision and scholarship notification early. There is no pressure to commit when you apply by our November 1 Early Action Deadline.

2. You don’t need to have your final test scores to apply, or any test scores!

Go ahead and apply now. If you plan to retake your ACT or SAT we will update your score when we receive the new score report, and update your merit award if you really improve your results!

Bellarmine also offers test optional admission. You can choose to submit your scores if you want them reviewed, or request to have your application reviewed without test scores during the application process. We guarantee to award you a competitive scholarship no matter which option you choose. Learn more here.

3. There is no application fee or essay.

You can apply for free using Bellarmine’s application, and you only need to submit an essay if you plan to apply for our Honors Program. So, you can complete our application in a few easy steps by telling us about who you are, what you’ve been involved with, and providing the contact information for your recommender*.

*Wondering what contact information you need to provide for your application?

Under the Academic History section of the application we ask you to give us information for the school official that will be submitting your transcript. In many instances, putting your guidance counselor’s information will work as they help to collect this information. In the event you know of a specific school official, other than your guidance counselor, that works with transcripts, please provide their information. We will send them a quick email explaining exactly what we need them to submit.

Under the Recommendations section of the application we ask you to provide contact information for a school official that will submit your required letter of recommendation. This can be a teacher, advisor or guidance counselor at your school. Once you provide us their information, we will contact them to collect your recommendation. You can also log back in to send them a reminder if needed.

4. Early action deadlines mean you get priority scholarship awards.

Typically, you will receive your scholarship award along with your admission decision within two weeks of completing your application. Bellarmine’s average merit award for the in fall 2020 incoming class was $30K, so you’ll definitely want to see what we can offer you.

You could also qualify for our Public Price Promise, which guarantees you pay no more to attend Bellarmine than the comprehensive cost of your state's flagship university!

5. A completed application means you get a quick decision.

We need your 1) submitted app 2) high school transcripts 3) test results or request for test optional review 4) a recommendation form.

That’s it. Once we have these items, you will get your answer! There is no need to delay. Go ahead and Apply to Bellarmine before our November 1 Early Action deadline.
