#5: ColorFest at Bernheim Forest
An annual celebration of fall, ColorFest offers activities like crafting and games amidst the beauty of the colorful forest. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, and Sunday, November 3, tickets run at $15 each- kids under ten get in free, so feel free to bring family.
#4: Visiting a Pumpkin Patch
Local farms boast an autumn staple: pumpkin patches, farmers markets, and orchards. A popular spot is Joe Huber's Farm in Starlight, Indiana, which offers various seasonal experiences and is open Thursday through Sunday in November.
#3: Waverly Hills Sanatorium Haunted House
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium, an old tuberculosis hospital with eerie rumors, has a haunted house that’s sure to terrify. If you’re looking for a thrill this Halloween, the haunted house will be open from 7:30 p.m. to midnight every Friday and Saturday until November 2. You can buy tickets online or on-site with $20 cash. Check out their historical and paranormal tours if you want something more toned down.
#2: Midnights at the Baxter
Every Louisville local is familiar with the Baxter Avenue Theater, a Highlands staple only five minutes from Bellarmine. Throughout October, they honor Halloween with Midnights at the Baxter, showing classic horror movies at 9 p.m. and midnight on select days. The last night will be Thursday, October 31, with the 1977 movie Carrie- tickets are only $8 and can be bought online.
#1: A Saucy Halloween from the Bizarre Bazaar
Zanzabar, one of Louisville’s oldest and most iconic entertainment hot spots, is hosting a Halloween party filled to the brim with attractions like live performances and a costume contest. Doors will open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, and tickets are $15; this event is 18 and up, so check it out before buying.
