Make a good summer great! Bellarmine’s summer term is a perfect time to make up some ground or get ahead in your coursework while saving money! Several courses are even available on a flexible, student-centered schedule without live online class meetings. This means you can learn from home, the coffeeshop or the park -- whenever it’s most convenient for you. 
 
“The benefits of asynchronous, online learning are that it allows you as the learner to go at your own pace, and you can work on your course work at a time that is convenient for you,” said Lory King, associate dean of academic advising. “This type of learning centers you as the learner and allows you the flexibility to do it from anywhere at any time, as long as you have access to Wi-Fi!”

English 101: Intro to Academic Writing 
Students engage in reading and writing arguments in a variety of genres. As writers, they develop their critical and rhetorical abilities to adapt to various audiences, purposes and contexts. Students practice writing processes, with an emphasis on revision, and creating effective texts in multiple genres. 
Perfect for completing your general education writing requirement, as well as for anyone considering a major in English! 
 
Sociology 101: Introduction to Sociology 
Basic concepts in the study of humans in social groups. Analysis of roles, institutional patterns, structures and process. 
Perfect in order to complete your social science general education requirement, as well as for those who want to learn more about current issues that are happening in our society. Also perfect for anyone majoring in Sociology! 
 
Music 103: Music in American Pop Culture 
This course will explore American culture through the phenomena of its popular music, specifically blues, jazz, rock, theater and mainstream music. 
Perfect for completing your general education fine arts requirement and for anyone who loves music! 
 
Bellarmine 199: Career Pathways Exploration (1 credit hour) 
This course is designed to guide students through a reflective process in pursuit of a fulfilling major and meaningful career throughout their time at Bellarmine and beyond. For students who are uncertain of a major, or certain of their major but uncertain about a career, BU 199 offers a pathway to reflect, explore and learn about oneself and all the possibilities Bellarmine has to offer. 
Perfect for any student who is undecided about their major and also wants to explore various career fields. If you ever wondered, “What can I do with this major?” this course is for you! 
 
Nursing 200: Nutrition 
This course is designed to assist students in gaining an understanding of the basic principles of nutrition, selection of food and diet therapy. Nutritional wellness across the human lifespan will be examined, emphasis will be placed on clinical application. 
Perfect for any student considering a possible major in Nursing, Exercise Science or Health Services Leadership! 
 
Communication 325: Communication Law 
This course examines essentials of communication law. Topics covered include issues related to the First Amendment, the limits of freedom of speech with regard to the press and new technologies, freedom of expression, Freedom of Information Act, copyright, broadcast regulation, invasion of privacy, libel, defamation, protection of sources, free press/fair trial, cameras in the courtroom, lotteries and antitrust. This course will benefit those planning careers in law, journalism, advertising, public relations and related fields. 
Perfect for any student thinking of pursuing Pre-Law, journalism and public relations!
