Dr. Kristin Cook (email) is the Associate Dean of the School of Education and a Professor of Science Education. She received her doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction specializing in Science Education and Environmental Sciences from Indiana University in Bloomington. Dr. Cook’s scholarly productivity includes over $3.2M dollars in externally funded projects, 5 peer-reviewed published books, 68+ peer-reviewed publications published or in-press, and 100+ peer-reviewed and invited international, national, regional, and state presentations. Dr. Cook is actively involved in the Association for Science Teacher Education, serving in an elected position and winning the Innovations in Teaching Science Teachers award. A former biology teacher, Dr. Cook serves as a professional developer and consultant for elementary, middle, and high school STEAM-focused school reform and project/problem-based learning development. Dr. Cook’s research focuses on engaging students and teachers with the community of science through the exploration of socio-scientific inquiry and transdisciplinary STEAM instruction. She is the co-author of Step into STEAM, grades K-5: Your standards-based action plan for deepening mathematics and science learning and Simplifying STEM: Four equitable practices to inspire meaningful learning (grades preK-5), (grades 6-12).  At Bellarmine University, she teaches Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Science Methods, STEAM Education, and School Health, Nutrition, and Physical Education.
