Below is a list of financial aid awards and the renewal requirements that must be met in order for the award to be renewed annually. If you have specific questions about your financial aid awards, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Institutional Awards
- Bellarmine Scholars: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA and full-time enrollment. Must also remain in Honor’s program.
- Bellarmine Fellows: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA and full-time enrollment. Must also remain in Honor’s program.
- Monsignor Horrigan Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.
- Monsignor Treece Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.

Scarlet Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA and full- time enrollment.

Silver Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.
- Transfer Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment.
- Transfer Grant: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.
- Art, Music, and Theater Scholarships: Recipient must continue to major in respective field. Cumulative GPA will be reviewed by the appropriate Program Chair for determination of renewal.
- Kentucky Governor Scholarship, Bellarmine Grant, Jefferson County Grant: Recipient must maintain full-time enrollment and continue to meet the renewal requirements for the respective scholarship (Horrigan/Treece).
- Black Achiever Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment.
- Vogt Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.
- Whitney Young Scholarship: Recipient must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.
- Athletic Scholarships/Grants: Renewal for athletic awards is based upon recommendation from the Coach to the Athletic Director.
- Trustee Scholarship: Recipient must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. Must also maintain full-time enrollment.
- Catholic High School Scholarship: Recipient must maintain full-time enrollment and continue to meet the renewal requirements for the respective scholarship (Horrigan/Treece/Scarlet).
- Public Price Promise: Recipient must maintain full-time enrollment and continue to meet the renewal requirements for the respective scholarship (Horrigan/Treece/Scarlet). Student must also live on campus each year for continued eligibility.
- Endowed Scholarships: Renewal requirements for individual endowed scholarships are sent to recipients when they are notified of selection for the award. For more information on specific renewal requirements, please refer to the endowed scholarship award letter or contact the Office of Financial Aid.
- Admission Hall Host / Resident Hall Assistant Awards: Recipients are selected annually for these awards. These awards are not automatically renewed.
- Chapel Musician/Pep Band Awards: Recipients are chosen based on participation. These awards are not automatically renewed.
- Employee Discount: Award amounts are provided each semester by Human Resources. These awards are not automatically renewed. For renewal information, please contact Dana Hummel, Director of Human Resources & Affirmative Action .
- Yellow Ribbon / Veteran's Educational Benefits: For information on eligibility and renewal procedures, please Lindsay Gargotto, Director of Military & Veteran Student Services
- Bagby, Schell, and Hofgesang Institutional Loans: Awards from these loan programs are given on an as needed basis and are not automatically renewable.
- Outside Scholarships: For renewal requirement information on scholarships awarded by outside agencies, please refer to the respective awarding agency.
Federal Aid Programs
- Federal Pell Grant: Recipient must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually, demonstrate financial need as defined by the federal formula, and meet the federally determined Expected Family Contribution (EFC) standards for the award year in question. Recipient must also maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at Bellarmine.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG): Recipient must complete the FAFSA annually and demonstrate financial need as defined by the federal formula. Recipient must also maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Bellarmine. The number of awards is determined by the federal allocation of funds given to Bellarmine annually for this program.
- Federal Work-Study: Recipient must complete the FAFSA annually, demonstrate financial need as defined by the federal formula, and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Bellarmine. Recipient must also have worked the given award amount in the previous year to continue to be awarded at the same funding level. The number of awards is determined by the federal allocation of funds given to Bellarmine annually for this program.
- Federal Direct Subsidized Loan: Borrower must complete the FAFSA annually and have financial need after all scholarship/grant aid has been applied. Borrower must also maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and at least half-time enrollment.
- Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan: Borrower must complete the FAFSA annually and be enrolled at least half-time. Borrower must also maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS): Borrower must complete a new PLUS Loan Request Form annually and submit to the Office of Financial Aid. Borrower must also pass a credit check each time a new loan is requested.
- Federal Graduate PLUS Loan (Grad PLUS): Borrower must complete a new Grad PLUS Request Form annually and submit to the Office of Financial Aid. Borrower must also pass a credit check each time a new loan is requested.
- Federal TEACH Program: Recipient must complete the FAFSA annually, be enrolled in coursework that is necessary to begin a career in teaching or plan to complete such coursework, meet certain academic achievement requirements, and sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve. Recipient must also maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA OR score in the 76th percentile or higher on at least one nationally normed admissions test (SAT, ACT, GRE). Kentucky State Aid Programs
- Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES): Renewal amounts for KEES are determined by the following parameters. Learn more on on-track to graduate policy on our Kentucky State Assistance page.
- If the cumulative GPA is at least 3.0, the full KEES award will be renewed
- If the cumulative GPA is at least 2.5 but below 3.0, the full KEES award will be renewed only if the recipient has completed enough hours to be certified as on-track to graduate.
- If the cumulative GPA is at least 2.5 but below 3.0, not enough hours have been earned to be certified as on-track to graduate, but the recipient was enrolled full-time during the prior year, the award will be renewed at 50%.
- If the cumulative GPA is below 3.0 and the recipient was enrolled less than full-time and not considered on-track to graduate, the recipient will become ineligible until one of the standards listed above has been met at the end of the next academic year.
- Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG): Recipient must be a Kentucky resident, complete a FAFSA annually, and demonstrate remaining financial need after all institutional and federal scholarships/grants have been applied. Recipient must also meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards and maintain full-time enrollment.
- College Access Program Grant (CAP): Recipient must be a Kentucky resident, complete a FAFSA annually, and meet the requirements to be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant. Recipient must also meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards and maintain at least half-time enrollment.
