Most recently, faculty and students are helping to ensure that Louisville-area residents receive the COVID-19 vaccine by administering the injections in partnership with the city's Department of Public Health and Wellness.
Students in the
Accelerated BSN program will be at the LouVax site at Broadbent Arena every week through the end of the semester and are also helping with University of Louisville vaccination clinics and at the BU COVID Care Center on campus.
Leslie Leffler, who joined the Nursing faculty on Jan. 1, 2021, said volunteering was a wonderful experience. “The people receiving the injections were so thankful for the opportunity of being vaccinated, they barely noticed I was sticking a needle
in their arm,” she said.
The Donna and Allan Lansing School of Nursing and Clinical Sciences also has dozens of service-learning activities and clinical affiliates, including:

Allie Lowry, an Accel student from San Francisco who volunteered at the LouVax site, said it was a testament to the dedication that the nurses and volunteers show to their community each day. “I was honored to be a part of it,” she said,
“and I’m proud of my new profession and fellow nurses!”
