Bellarmine appoints Sturgeon to Dean of Admission

January 23, 1998

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine College has appointed Tim Sturgeon to the position of dean of admission. He will oversee all aspects of student recruitment, financial aid and student retention.

Sturgeon received his bachelor’s degree in English from Bellarmine in 1987 and began his professional career at Bellarmine that same year. He started as an admissions counselor and subsequently was promoted to assistant dean and associate dean. Sturgeon, a four-year tennis letterman as a student, also served as Bellarmine’s men’s tennis coach for two years.

During Sturgeon’s career, he has developed a number of programs, such as a new scholarship competition and preview day event, which have enhanced Bellarmine’s admissions efforts. He also started two student groups, the student ambassadors and telecounselors, who help in recruiting. In addition, Sturgeon has been responsible for recruiting within Jefferson County, the largest source of Bellarmine students.

"We’re pleased to have Tim as our new admission dean," said Bellarmine President Joseph J. McGowan, Jr. "He has a proven track record, great rapport with students, excellent faculty support, is a team player and deeply committed to Bellarmine’s success."
