Residence Hall – Phase I
Although the October rains put a damper on working conditions, it didn’t affect the progress as much as the stadium (see below). Being on the hillside, a lot of the rain ran away from the site, allowing work to continue for the most part. Footers and foundation are complete in about 60 percent of the residence wing. Foundations and walls are currently being constructed in the gatehouse section and progress is moving according to schedule. The easternmost section of the residence hall has the first floor walls in place and decking is scheduled for this week. The parking lot for this hall is curbed and base coat of asphalt is in place. The contractor will use this space for materials staging and contractor parking until the project is complete.
Owsley B. Frazier Stadium:
Progress on the stadium has been slowed due to the extreme rainfall in the month of October. Being the lowest spot on campus, moisture just doesn’t go away in the fall and winter months. We are making progress on the rock hillside, footers and piers are being poured for the bleachers, foundations and pole stubs are in place for the stadium lights. We have started the rock base for the track but continued work on that section will be determined by the moisture content at the site. The curbing along Newburg Road has started and the sidewalk will follow in the near future.
