Bellarmine’s director of financial aid, Heather Boutell, was elected president of the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) at the association’s conference held Feb. 11-14 in Nashville, Tenn.
Boutell will serve a three-year term and sit on the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators board. Beginning this July, she will serve on year as president-elect, then one year as president and one year as past president. She is only the fourth Kentuckian to hold the position.
Boutell was named Bellarmine’s director of financial aid in the fall of 2005, having previously served as Bellarmine’s associate director of financial aid from 2000 to 2004. A native of Owensboro, she received her bachelor’s of music education from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1991, and her master’s degree from the University of Louisville in 1993. She is a former president of the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA) and currently serves as the treasurer for the SASFAA.
SASFAA has approximately 1,500 members and is comprised of financial aid administrators throughout Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Virginia and Mississippi.
