Dr. Nelson Lopez, assistant professor of foreign languages at Bellarmine University, was selected to participate in the annual reading and scoring of the College Board's AP (Advanced Placement) Examinations in Spanish. The grading took place in San Antonio from June 3-10.
Each year the AP Program gives more than 1 million high school students an opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses and examinations. Students scoring high enough on the exam will receive college credit.
Approximately 23 million exams in 20 disciplines were evaluated by readers from universities and high schools from across the country as well as Canada and overseas. The APR Reading is a unique forum in which academic dialogue between secondary school and college educators is fostered and strongly encouraged.
"The reading draws upon the talents of the some of the finest teachers and professors that the world has to offer," said Trevor Packer, executive director of the Advanced Placement Program at the College Board. "We are very grateful for the contributions of talented educators such as Dr. Lopez."
