Mock Trial team has best national finish since 2001

The Bellarmine University Mock Trial Team finished sixth in the National Championship Tournament held April 4-6 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The team earned its best finish since 2001 defeating Stanford University and Northwestern University in head to head matches.

Junior captain Staci Windsor of Asheboro, N.C. was one of 20 to earn an All American Attorney award. She was chosen from more than 200 attorneys who were eligible for the honor. Other team members include: R. Paul Bauer (Elizabethtown, Ky.), Chelsea Brown (Franklin, Ky.), Ariel Edlin (Louisville, Ky.) C. Alex Flood (Louisville, Ky.), Thomas Pedron (Enterprise, Ala.) and Danielle Reesor (Elizabethtown, Ky.). They are coached by Ruth and Jim Wagoner who were elected to the American Mock Trial Association Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007. Alumni Jason Butler and Matt Rich also serve on the coaching staff.

Bellarmine Mock Trial is one of the oldest and most successful programs in the country. In the 22 years that the team has competed, Bellarmine has placed first or second in the nation five times and has finished in the top-10 on several other occasions. In 1999 they won the National Championship. Bellarmine has qualified at least one team for the National Championship Tournament in 21 of the past 22 year and has almost 40 All Americans.
