LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The WHAS Crusade for Children has awarded $38,000 to the Bellarmine School of Education to establish an assessment clinic and fund graduate student scholarships. Crusade for Children CEO Rebecca Jackson presented the check at a ceremony on the Bellarmine campus Sept. 5.
"For the past 30 years, the WHAS Crusade for children has provided more than $2 million to the School of Education," said Anne Bucalos, the school's associate dean and an associate professor of special education. "This money has assisted us in preparing teachers to work effectively with students who have special needs."
All Bellarmine undergraduate middle and elementary school majors receive dual certification in regular and special education. The clinic will open in 2009.
Bellarmine University is an independent Catholic university offering more than 50 majors, as well as graduate degree programs and a doctor of physical therapy. Forbes magazine and the Princeton Review rank Bellarmine among America’s best colleges, and U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks Bellarmine as a top tier university.
