Bellarmine University To Honor Distinguished Alumni

Bellarmine graduates are leaders in their fields, from medicine and technology to civil service and spiritual counseling. This fall, the Bellarmine University Alumni Association will honor seven of its most distinguished graduates and one outstanding faculty member. The awards recognize those who have distinguished themselves through professional accomplishments, community service and demonstration of attitudes consistent with Christian doctrines.

The university will honor the inductees at an awards dinner at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the historic Henry Clay in downtown Louisville. The dinner is open to the public. The cost is $40 per person or $240 per table of eight. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m.

The honorees are:

Michael E. Hobbs ’71: Alumnus of the Year. CEO of Engineered Glass Products.

Dr. Gail Ritchie Henson: Msgr. Alfred F. Horrigan Service Award. Professor and founding chair of the Bellarmine University School of Communication.

John P. O’Regan ’54: Scarlet and Silver Society. Archivist for Bellarmine’s Pioneer Class of 1954, Bellarmine basketball scorekeeper for 33 years, and retired railroad executive.

The Very Rev. William L. Fichteman ’63: Gallery of Distinguished Graduates. Pastor of the Cathedral of the Assumption.

Mary Jane Adams ’85/’95 MSN: Gallery of Distinguished Graduates. Senior VP of Nursing at University of Louisville Hospital.

Kevin Flanery ’87: Gallery of Distinguished Graduates. President of Churchill Downs Racetrack.

Major Kenny Lynn Harryman ’93: Gallery of Distinguished Graduates. Air Force Operating Room Flight Commander at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center; recently earned the Bronze Star.

John Lansing ’09: Gallery of Distinguished Graduates. President of Scripps Networks.
