Bellarmine University will honor Roy B. Hill as the school’s Accounting Alumnus of the Year at its 26th annual accounting alumni luncheon, on Thursday, September 23, at 11:30 a.m. in the Amelia Brown Frazier Convocation Hall on campus.
Bellarmine’s
Alumni Association will also recognize the 25 previous winners of the award since its inception in 1985. Past award winners have included leaders of major corporations and partners in accounting firms.
Hill, who received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Bellarmine in 1969 and graduated second in his class, began his career with Yeager, Ford & Warren before joining
Cotton + Allen in 1972. This began a 38-year career that has seen Hill advance the growth of the firm. He was admitted as a partner in 1977, named to the Cotton + Allen Executive Committee, served as Personnel Officer, was a member of the Compensation Committee, and served as the firm’s recruitment leader for accounting graduates.
Hill applied the lessons he learned at Bellarmine not just in his career, but also in service to his community.
At Bellarmine, he serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the W. Fielding Rubel School of Business, and has taught part-time classes, such as Intermediate Accounting and CPA Exam Progress classes.
Hill is also heavily involved in the Kentucky Society of CPAs, chairing multiple committees and teaching continuing education courses. He has also served on the boards of the Boy Scouts of America, Kentucky Department of Parks' State Parks Commission, Assumption High School Athletics Booster Club, Trinity High School, and St. Pius X.
Cotton + Allen CEO Bob Montgomery described Hill as “a shining example of what a Catholic education based in the liberal arts tradition can mean to an individual, his family, and the community he calls home.”
Tickets to the luncheon are $37.50 per person, or $300 for a table of eight. For reservations, contact Carol Huff at (502) 272-8240.
