Author Daniel Imhoff, a Californian who writes and lectures about farming and the environment, will speak at Bellarmine University on Wednesday, February 9, at 7 p.m.

Imhoff is director of
Watershed Media, which seeks to influence the transition to a sustainable society. He is also president of the Wild Farm Alliance, a national organization promoting agriculture systems that support and accommodate wild nature. He has written articles, essays and books, including "Farming with the Wild: Enhancing Biodiversity on Farms and Ranches."
Imhoff's lecture -- titled "Animal Factory: the truth about the meat you eat and how you can change the system" -- takes place in Hilary's, on the first floor of Horrigan Hall (
see campus map).
After Imhoff's lecture, Louisville food writer Sarah Fritschner will lead a panel discussion about options for buying locally-grown meat. The panel features a farmer and a processor-distributor. Fritschner is a former Courier-Journal food editor who has written books about cooking.
RELATED EVENT On Saturday, February 12, a TEDx presentation on "Changing the Way We Eat" will be shown via satellite at Bellarmine, followed by a local event.

The Center for Regional Environmental Studies supports a new undergraduate program in environmental studies, campus-wide initiatives in environmental sustainability, new research agendas and the Bellarmine Farm, which will provide fresh produce for the University Dining Hall.
Imhoff will sign copies of his books, which will be available for purchase at the event.
