Bellarmine University is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to
The Princeton Review, which featured the school in the 2012 edition of its annual college guide, "
The Best 376 Colleges."
The college guide also noted Bellarmine students’ strong ties to Louisville, calling it one of the nation’s best 20 schools for “town-gown relations.”
Only about 15 percent of America’s four-year colleges are profiled in the book, which is The Princeton Review's flagship college guide. The book ranks Bellarmine in several categories and includes comments from current students, such as:
- “Bellarmine is all about creating the small school atmosphere on an academically strong campus in the heart of a big city.”
- Professors are “friendly and approachable,” with “a genuine love of their craft” and an investment in “ensuring an enriching experience for students beyond the classroom.”
- The university “prepares students for the real-world, both mentally and socially.”
- Bellarmine’s “study abroad programs are fantastic.”
- “Most students who attend Bellarmine are there for a reason—to succeed.”
Robert Franek – Princeton Review's senior vice president, publisher and author of "The Best 376 Colleges" – said: "We commend Bellarmine for its outstanding academics, which is the primary criteria for our selection of schools for the book. Our choices are based on institutional data we collect about schools, our visits to schools over the years, feedback we gather from students attending the schools, and the opinions of our staff and our 28-member National College Counselor Advisory Board. We also work to keep a wide representation of colleges in the book by region, size, selectivity and character."
