Outsized Influence Festival celebrates Bellarmine's musical tradition

July 17, 2014

Free 3-stage Aug. 30 event features 14 bands and food trucks

LOUISVILLE (July 17, 2014) – The Outsized Influence Festival – a free one-day, three-stage event on August 30 -- will celebrate Bellarmine University’s rich musical tradition and impact on the region’s music scene.

OutsizedInfluence-web-250pEach of the 14 bands at Outsized Influence includes at least one member of the Bellarmine community, with participating alumni who graduated sometime between 1991 and 2014, plus current students and faculty members.

Fire The Saddle, Outsized Influence’s headliner, is set to play their first show together in nearly eight years. Additionally, Outsized Influence will feature genres across the board, including DJ Dr. Dundiff & Friends, guitar virtuoso Craig Wagner and his trio, and Small Time Napoleon, who keeps everyone swinging with their combination of jazz, folk and pop.

Bellarmine senior Will Ford created the festival with music instructors Todd Hildreth and Ben Aguilar. "Bellarmine brings in a big-name, national act every year, but Todd, Ben and I realized that our own music department was left out," said Ford. "This is our solution. There's so much alumni and student talent we couldn't fit it all in this year's festival. With future festivals, we will continue to show the unknown tradition of Bellarmine music."

The Outsized Influence Festival takes place on Saturday, August 30, from 3 to 10 p.m. in the quad at Bellarmine University, 2001 Newburg Road. Food trucks from the Louisville Street Food Alliance will be parked on campus for the festival. [campus map]

In addition to Fire The Saddle, Craig Wagner Trio, Small Time Napoleon and Dr. Dundiff & Friends, the 2014 lineup includes Lauren Zoeller Band, The Foxery, In Lightning, Ed Monk, Zim Marim, The Formalities, Wilder Stallions, Kabelo Chirwa, Olivia Reed and Cheating Paisley.
