A group of Bellarmine University students is working with Dr. Shawn Apostel, an assistant professor in the School of Communication, to organize a TEDx talk on campus in 2019.

TEDx events feature live presentations from speakers along with videos of speakers from previous TED Talks events. TEDx events are led by local volunteers working under an agreement with TED, a media organization that hosts global conferences with the slogan “ideas worth spreading.”
The idea of hosting a TEDx event at Bellarmine was first discussed in 2015, when a student shared his favorite TED Talk video with Apostel. A group of students later formed a working group to explore the idea, and recently announced a goal of bringing TEDx to campus on March 1, 2019.
“What started out as a tangent during my office hour has become a goal that many Bellarmine students want to accomplish,” said Apostel.
The proposed Bellarmine TEDx event’s theme is “Who are we? Past, present, future.”
The group has
launched a website where people can learn more, get involved and submit proposals to speak.
