Molly Jett is a Bellarmine University junior double-majoring in communication and design, art and technology, and minoring in digital media. This summer, she is spending eight weeks studying and interning abroad in Shanghai, China.
Jett wanted to study abroad before she graduated, and was ready for an adventure anywhere she could go.
“I went to our Study Abroad Office and asked what programs would be most compatible with my major and interests,” she said.

Jett's hometown is Louisville, but she was adopted from China as an infant. So when study abroad advisor Bridget Kline found an eight week internship related to her field in Shanghai, it was a natural fit.
"It was a dream come true, because I was going to study abroad, see where I was born and receive credit,” she said.
Her internship is with
That’s Shanghai, an English-language arts and culture magazine produced by HK Focus Media Group and distributed in Shanghai. HK Focus Media distributes magazines tailored to events and culture in Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
"I love my placement, because of the assignments I have been given and the people I work with,” she said. "My company is made up of employees from all over the world.”
Those aren’t the only perks of her job.
"My favorite thing: Going out to dinner for a food tasting with my co-worker who is the food editor for That’s Shanghai,” she said. "We ate on the Puxi side of Shanghai, right on the Huangpu river."
This internship plays directly into her plans after graduation. Jett said she intends to apply for early entry into either of Bellarmine's Master of Arts in Communication or Master of Science in Digital Media programs, with the goal of becoming a news anchor.
"This internship allows me to gain more journalism experience, especially with writing,” she said. "I will have published articles with my own byline by the end of this internship.”
During her stay, Jett has also traveled to the Bund and Shanghai Disneyland, and plans on visiting the Great Wall of China and experiencing more of mainland China before returning home.
