As freshman move-in day draws near, we asked several incoming students a variety of questions to get to know them a little better. Over the coming weeks, we will share some of their responses as a sneak peek into the incoming class of 2022.
Today we will highlight the responses shared with us by Hannah Flannery.
Why did you pick Bellarmine?
I picked Bellarmine for so many reasons! I knew I wanted a school close enough to my home in Naperville, Illinois, but far enough away that it felt different. I received a brochure from Bellarmine around October of my junior year in high school, visited in November, and from then on, it was my school! I love the atmosphere, the people on campus, the actual campus, and Louisville.
Is there anyone in particular you’d like to thank for helping prepare you for this new part of your life?
Of course I’d like to thank my mom! Without her, going to college wouldn’t even be a possibility. I would also like to thank everyone I met on campus who helped me with the admissions process - James Standard, my admissions counselor who I’m sure must be tired of seeing my name pop up on his phone; and my tour guides and over-knight hosts Hannah and Gabby!
Have you picked a major? What will you be studying?
I will either pursue a triple major in English, Spanish, and Secondary Education, or a double major-minor with the same subjects.
What class are you most excited to take your first semester?
I’m very excited to take my Psychology of Adolescence class because it is my first class geared towards my majors, and I’m thrilled and eager to start!
One of the most common ice-breakers on campus is “Tell us your name, major, and an interesting thing about yourself.” Do you have an interesting fact or story about yourself you’d like to share?
The first thing I always say is that I am a USFSA (United States Figure Skating Association) Gold Medalist! I love to skate, and actually worked as a coach for a while as well.
