Annual tradition surpasses $1.5 million raised over five years

Bellarmine University’s community came together in a show of generosity and pride during its annual Day of Giving, raising $205,605.39 in just 24 hours to support students, programs and initiatives across campus.

This year’s results push the five-year total for the Day of Giving to more than $1.5 million, underscoring the ongoing commitment of alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends of the university.

“We are profoundly grateful for everyone who showed support during this year’s Day of Giving,” said Dr. Susan M. Donovan, Bellarmine’s president. “Each gift—no matter the size—makes an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of our students. Your support helps ensure they graduate prepared to lead lives of purpose, service and success.”

Themed “Knights Unite,” this year’s campaign on March 19 invited supporters to give to the areas they care most about—from academics and scholarships to athletics and the Rev. John D. Deatrick '55 Knights Pantry. The majority of gifts were made to the Bellarmine Fund, which helps the university respond to the immediate needs of its students, faculty, schools and programs.

For the second year, the deans of each school or college within Bellarmine competed for a trophy based on the total number of gifts they received. This year, Dr. Heather Owens, dean of the Donna and Allan Lansing School of Nursing and Health Sciences, collected that trophy from last year’s winner, the Bellarmine College of Arts and Sciences.

The Day of Giving aligns with Bellarmine’s strategic priorities, including expanding access and affordability, advancing academic excellence and innovation, and preparing students for meaningful careers. According to the most recent graduate outcomes report, 99% of Bellarmine graduates are employed or pursuing advanced degrees within six months of commencement, a feat that is 14% higher than the average for all U.S. colleges and universities.
