How long does the program take?
Our FNP program is a 43 credit hour program that most students complete in two years.
Do I need to arrange my own clinical site?
If you are a resident of Kentucky, we have a graduate practicum coordinator who will place you in a site. If you are outside the state of Kentucky then you are responsible for securing your own clinical site.
Does Bellarmine offer financial aid?
What is the method of course delivery?
Beginning in Fall 2019 the Bellarmine MSN-FNP is fully online. Clinicals, of course, are the exception.
What will my experience with faculty be like?
Our instructors are actively working as nurse practitioners, so you will learn from experts in the field. Our faculty are accessible to you and willing to help you at every step along the way.
What is the time commitment for clinicals?
There is a total of 720 clinical hours required in the program. Those are divided over 3 semesters of 180, 180 and 360 in the final summer.
Does Bellarmine offer financial aid?
Do I need work experience?
One year of bedside RN is required but that can be obtained during the first year of the program.
Can I work full time while in the program?
We find that during the first year of the program most students can maintain normal work requirements. During the second year, the "speciality" year clinical rotations start and most successful students tend to go part time or PRN at their employment
to satisfy clinical hours.
Am I required to go through a background check?
Yes, a background and drug test is required.
