BraveBU is a student-led community of care comprised of faculty, staff, students, and community partners with a shared commitment to the prevention & elimination of gender-based and sexual violence on campus.
All BraveBU stakeholders work collectively toward the creation of a safer and healthier community through collaborative partnerships, education, and awareness.
Just as Knights are courageous, strong, and loyal, Bellarmine community members maintain a rich tradition of loyalty and commitment to one another. BraveBU encourages all students, faculty, and staff to engage in the united effort to keep our community safe by having:
-
the courage to learn & unlearn
-
the strength to engage in difficult conversations and reflective thought
-
the loyalty to incorporate healthy relationship behaviors into interactions with every member of our community

Engagement Opportunities
RSO membership
Become an RSO member and help lead the charge! RSO committees plan events, including Take Back the Night, The Clothesline Project, and more; collaborate with campus and community partners to increase the reach of our programming; facilitate prevention education trainings and other programming; create social media content, educational materials, PSAs, and other marketing materials; and help to promote healthy masculinity as we engage male-identifying community members in this critical conversation.
Ambassadors
Apply to be an ambassador and gain additional opportunities for leadership development, advocacy training, deeper collaboration with campus & community partners, and a position on the RSO e-board. This is a paid position available through the Common App. Email bravebu@bellarmine.edu or talk to a current ambassador to learn more!
Events & Partnerships
Follow us on Instagram and Engage to stay informed about our upcoming events!
Signature events include The Clothesline Project, Take Back the Night, BraveBU Spooktacular, Hang Out with BraveBU, Healthy Relationships Across Campus, Denim Day, and more. We also offer educational workshops on topics such as healthy relationships, boundaries, consent, and more. Join us for Stalking Awareness Month activities in January; Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in February; Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April; and Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
We love to collaborate! Reach out if your RSO, club or intramural sport, class, or other group is interested in partnering for a training or event. Approach us with a topic in mind or we can brainstorm together! Interpersonal violence impacts everyone and we want to provide information that is interesting and relevant to you.
Many of our campus and community partners offer opportunities for service projects. If you or your group has a service requirement, we are happy to assist! We also offer service hours for Take Back the Night volunteers during the spring semester.
