American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR Online Blended Course
This is the course required for physical therapy, nursing, exercise science, respiratory therapy and many other health programs at Bellarmine University.
This is a two-step, blended course; you must first complete the online course then you will complete an interactive video and live clinical skills check-off.
Step one: Purchase your key
A “key” is simply an online link to the course, which will be sent to your email address from the American Heart Association. You can purchase your key directly from the American Heart Association at
www.onlineaha.org. Type in Heartcode BLS into the search engine to locate the course.
After you complete the online portion of the course, the system will direct you to an exam. You will have two opportunities to pass the exam. If you do not pass either one, you must purchase another key.
Step two: Skills check-off in the Office of Health Services, Newman 121
After you pass the exam, you must complete the interactive video and the schedule a live clinical skills check off.
You MUST make an appointment for your check-off by contacting Alice Kimble via email at mkimble@bellarmine.edu. The skills check-off is $20.
Keep in mind:
- There is no pressure at the skills checks-off; staff will show you what clinical skills you have forgotten and ensure you are proficient before you leave.
-
All cards are sent electronically to the emails address of your choice. If you lose your electronic card, call our office to have it re-sent.
